Creating a shop in Barion

This tutorial is your point of entry into the Barion ecosystem.

It’s set in the Barion Sandbox environment.

We highly recommend that you start out in the Barion Sandbox, and only switch to the live environment when you're ready to deploy.

You can safely explore Barion API functionality, handle potential errors, and debug your integration in the controlled setting of Barion Sandbox, without the risk of disrupting your live webshop, so your deployment to production is smooth and issue-free.

In this tutorial, you’ll

  1. set up a Barion Wallet,
  2. top it up with test money, and
  3. open a Barion shop to accept payments.

Prerequisites

An email address that you have access to.

Set up a Barion Wallet to accept payments

  1. If using a web browser:

Go to the Barion Sandbox in your browser:

If using the Barion mobile app:

Access the Other>Profile>Add profile screen, enter the email address you’d like to register, prefixed by “test#”, and select “Register”.

Note that you need the “test#” prefix to make sure that you’re registering a Barion Wallet in the Barion Sandbox.

  2. Make sure you pick the “Business” type of Barion Wallet, and fill in the form.

Use a a random personal details generator if you like, for the required personal details.

Shops for Barion Wallets in the sandbox environment are approved automatically, so you don’t need to worry about having the shop details checked for now. Live webshops associated with a real business are, however, strictly controlled – read about opening a shop in the live Barion environment here.

  3. Click Registration/Sign up.

You’ll soon receive an email at the address you’ve entered in the form, with the activation link.

  4. Click the link to the activation page in the activation email.

This opens the account activation page in your browser.

  5. Select a security question from the list provided, enter your answer, and click Wallet activation.

Read more about registering an account [the dedicated support article].

Create a shop for your Wallet

Log in to the newly-created Barion Wallet, and click through to Shops>+Create new shop.

  1. Enter the shop and contact details for the shop as required.

Feel free to use the random personal details generator as before.

  2. Select the first and last options in the “To-do list” section, then click “Save as draft”, then “Submit form”.

Barion shops in the sandbox have recurring payment scenarios and Barion Bridge enabled by default.

Next steps

Now you’re ready to make a test payment in your shop.
